Held on August 11-14, the workshop brought together 30 rural leaders from across the region for three days of presentations and small group engagements around a hypothetical regional small town. Participants were nominated by regional organizations and agencies and then invited to apply, while speakers included design and planning practitioners drawn from throughout the Northeast.
The workshop marked the first hosted by SUNY Syracuse after its official designation as the Northeast Regional Your Town Center. This model of the program operated with the National Your Town Center helmed by the National Trust and SUNY Syracuse landscape architecture program, with five designated regional centers which hosted numerous workshops in subsequent years.
