Workshops
October 4-6, 2001
Silver City, New Mexico

Silver City, NM

The Silver City workshop was coordinated by staff from the Rivers Trails and Conservation Assistance Program of the National Park Service in partnership with the town of Silver City.

The workshop, which took place October 4-6, 2001, was tailored to the specific needs of Silver City and engaged a significant representation of elected officials, including the Mayor. The town’s design context, which included the loss of historic buildings and landscapes and a long history of planning processes without implementation, were part of the larger conversation as attendees met in small groups to address specific design challenges. Site visits around town were particularly effective at getting attendees engaged in the projects.
