The workshop was presented by the Center for Landscape Design & Stewardship, a partnering non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental and community sustainability through education, demonstration, and public outreach. From September 30 to October 2, more than 30 regional leaders convened for a series of design lectures, workshops, group discussions, and case study presentations focused on addressing the unique challenges faced by communities in Luzerne County — particularly in response to rising development and suburbanization pressures. In addition to the focus on preserving farmland and rural identity, programming highlighted the role of agritourism in both preservation and economic development efforts.
