Casa Grande, AZ

This workshop was held in 1995 in Casa Grande, Arizona at the Francisco Grande Hotel & Resort.

The workshop was hosted by Arizona State University from January 12-15 and helmed by experienced staff from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and SUNY Syracuse's College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Featured speakers included ASU faculty, planners from the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as local civic leaders with expertise in preservation and the arts. The workshop was keynoted by leading landscape and conservation planner Randall Arendt. In addition to the hallmark design lectures and Your Town workshop for regional leaders, the weekend featured a unique lecture from NPS staff on sustainability in national parks and their gateway communities, given the region’s plethora of national parks.
