Asset Mapping Roadmap is a tool designed to help regional leaders support innovation-based growth. The tool was developed with the support of the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) of the U.S. Department of Labor. The guide is focused on helping regions build strategies that align education, workforce development, and economic development programs. At its core, the asset mapping process provides leaders with an inventory of key resources that may be utilized in a development effort. Comprehensive asset mapping analysis also provides leaders with a deeper understanding of the cultural attitudes that shape a regional economy, and can identify gaps in the local economy that require further investment. Asset Mapping is an invaluable resource because even the most innovative economic development plan can fail if there is a mismatch between strategy and the assets available.
Council on Competitiveness is a non-partisan leadership organization of corporate CEOs, university presidents, labor leaders and national laboratory directors committed to advancing U.S. competitiveness in the global economy and a rising standard of living for all Americans.
